The parliamentarians from 8 countries assembled to discuss the relevant questions of the role of parliaments in the modern world. Among the main subjects of discussion during the meeting were the issues of parliamentary control over the executive and perspectives of the parliamentary diplomacy and interparliamentary cooperation.

In the course of the visit the head of the Russian delegation Mr. Oleg Morozov donated the commemorative medal “65 years of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, 1941-1945” to the Canadian War Museum.  The solemn ceremony was held in the museum itself in the presence of Mr. Peter Milliken, the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada and Mr. Mark O’Neil, Director General of the CWM.

The visit has become an important event in the Russian-Canadian relations. It provided both sides with another opportunity to touch base on the issues of mutual interest and contributed to reinforcing constructive dialogue between the two parliaments.
